2015-October-16 El Salvador, Intl Airport: Up The East Coast

We flew into Houston from Roatan, Honduras 2 weeks ago.  In those 2 weeks we did a very quick tour up the east coast of USA.  We flew to Baltimore and hired a car to drive North. 

Here are some of the highlights of that trip:

Washington, District of Columbia:

• Found doctor to sort out Jean’s jellyfish reaction!
• Met Luba (Anthony’s journalist friend who he met in Sydney) in a local park for a catchup
• Had dinner with Marta (Anthony’s school friend).  Always feels like we just saw her yesterday.   
• 2 hours quickly visiting the National Mall, Washington & Lincoln Memorials and White House (we will have to come back one day)
• Had a great couch surf with Pablo, originally from Argentina

Hightstown, New Jersey:

• Had a great night’s stay with Kurt in his apartment at the school where he teaches (He is the son of the family we worked for in California)

 Boston, Massachusetts:

• Great walking around Harvard and then into Boston for a day 
• Had a great couch surf with Fernando and Diogo, originally from Brazil
• Fun wandering around Salem (town of witches and pirates) while it was preparing for Halloween
• Afternoon coffee at Rockport (cute seaside town) to avoid rain downpour

Londonderry, New Hampshire:

• Stayed with Doug Hansel (Jean had not seen him for 18 years) and met his lovely wife, Veronique, and boys, Lowan and Caelan.  We did not want to leave!
• Fascinating day at Canterbury Shaker (not Quaker) Village  
• Enjoyed Fried Clam and Seafood Chowder in Maine followed by time on the beach 
• Walked up Mt Kearsage to see the magnificent fall colours from a good height
• Were spoilt rotten by Doug and Veronique, especially with meals (curry, ribs, pork fillet, smoked trout chowder, apple pie, the list goes on)

Fall Colours (Again)

Westerly, Rhode Island:

• Drove around exclusive Watch Hill (where Taylor Swift has a mansion) and Westerly where we were based for 2 days
• Had a great couch surf with Tim, who is from the area.  Two lovely evenings chatting over dinner

Long Island, New York

• Lunch was yummy Pumpkin Pie Blizzard (like a soft serve ice cream)
• Had a great couch surf with Mark who has grown up in New York and St Petersburg

Friday (today) and tomorrow are travelling days to our new base near San Ramon, Peru, where we will spend 5 weeks.
