2015-May-30 USA, California, San Diego: Another Action-Packed Week

It has been another action-packed week in San Diego although we have both had minor colds so not too much partying and pub-crawling!  The week started with a juicing party on Monday at one of John’s friends, Kary’s place.  This involves heaps of greens and other fruit and veg being fed through a juicer over the course of two hours by a consortium of friends, listening to music and catching up.
It was a lot of fun and the views of San Diego from her apartment were an added bonus.

On Tuesday we caught the ferry to Coronado Island in the middle of San Diego Harbour and walked across to the ocean side to see Hotel Del Coronado which is absolutely stunning.  (Thanks to Neil K for suggesting this outing)

On Friday, Gitta, another of John’s friends, was kind enough to fetch us and drive us further out of San Diego to see some of the surrounds.  We started in Encinitas looking through Swami’s Meditation Gardens which were beautiful and overlooking a famous surfing beach which we walked along for ages.

We shared a bean burrito here (yes we have resorted to sharing meals as the portions are huge!) to fortify us for the rest of the day looking at the countryside and visiting Cabrillo National Monument which has fabulous ocean and harbour views and stunning rock formations.

Tomorrow we will drive up to Camino to start our first "workaway" experience.

Tip given to us by another young traveller:  If you need money just look at the following website  http://jalr.org/
Hmm, might wait for more desperate times :-)
