2015-Apr-06 Australia, NSW, Sydney: Maybrook Village

Well we are on the first part of our adventure!  We have rented our house out and most of our stuff is in storage.  In the way of all intrepid adventurers we have chosen an exciting and challenging way to start the journey...we have moved into a retirement community.

Sonja, Jean's mum is visiting Kim in Durban, South Africa and we offered to look after Daisy, the poodle, maltese cross.  It occurred to us that it would make sense to stay in Sonja's unit while we were looking after Daisy and, after getting permission from the Village Manager (we are under 55 after all), we have moved in for 8 weeks.  It's been fun having a dog in our lives for a while.

The community have accepted us rather well although they are quick to say they are missing Sonja - don't think they like that we spend most of the day at work and not socialising.  Jean also had a comment from one gentleman in the car park saying "My, you must have had cosmetic surgery - you don't look a day under 60"  to which she replied "no, just a good restful holiday".

We have a few more weeks left at work and are spending time preparing for our adventure (getting in touch with people, booking flights, international drivers' licence, technology setup etc).
